Eric Imperial considers the objectives and goals of his clients
to be of paramount importance. He enjoys building personal relationships
with his clients and developing a deep understanding of their
needs, enabling him to serve and advise them over time.
Eric’s legal and business background enables him to deliver sophisticated
legal representation within his clients' budgets. A serious and dedicated
advocate and negotiator for his clients, Eric is professional and
courteous to opposing parties and their counsel in order to achieve a successful
resolution to his clients’ matters. Eric is committed to both mediation
and arbitration as alternatives to resolving disputes outside of the courtroom.
Practice Areas
Civil Litigation: From developing a
pre-litigation strategy to the successful resolution of a case,
Eric Imperial provides a wide range of services to businesses
and individuals who are facing or involved in lawsuits. His litigation
experience covers multiple practice areas, including breach
of contract, real estate, intellectual property, products liability
and wrongful death. Eric guides his clients through each stage
of the litigation process by advising them on pre-litigation
alternatives, developing a successful litigation plan and aggressively
conducting discovery to ensure resolution of each matter by
trial, mediation or settlement.
Mediation: Eric is a tireless, energetic mediator who brings a
fresh, creative approach to brokering settlements. Eric has built his
legal career as a trial lawyer representing both employees and employers
in complex business disputes. As a result, he understands what drives
these disputes and why they can be difficult to resolve without the help
of a mediator. He sees that some cases need to be tried, but most should
(and will eventually) settle. With this vision, Eric has helped attorneys
and their clients break the impasse and reach resolution without the
discomfort, risk and cost of protracted litigation. As part of his
commitment to Alternative Dispute Resolution, Eric serves as a mediator
for the Maryland Circuit and District Courts, having completed the Maryland
Institute for Continuing Professional Education for Lawyers mediation training.
Security Clearance: Eric understands that a security clearance
is an essential credential for defense contractors and military service
members working on classified projects. When the government seeks to revoke
a security clearance or deny an application for a clearance, Eric has been
there to help the contractor or service member to challenge the government's
action through the appeals process. He works with clients to investigate the
basis for the governments action, prepares the record for the appeal and
represents the individual at the hearing to ensure that the matter is presented
in a thorough manner to the hearing officer. Eric also advises clients on how
to complete the application for a security clearance and prepare for the personal
interview and, if required, the polygraph examination.
Non-profit/Business Law: Eric knows that understanding the client's
business goals is essential to the delivery of quality, cost-effective legal services.
Eric listens carefully to his clients objectives so he can provide strategic legal
advice, draft agreements in plain English and negotiate a final deal that promotes
the client's interests. For non-profit organizations, Eric works with management to
ensure that their organization is properly governed and that its activities support its
stated mission.
